A traditional pylon sign is very serviceable. A pylon sign dressed up in Signs By Benchmark’s custom pole covers takes the look from mundane to spectacular with a beefy punch.
In the case of this project, we collaborated with Geffdog Design & Apparel of Aberdeen, SD to turn an existing pylon sign into a muscular looking work of eye-catching art.
Standing over 28′ high, the sign called for elements that would anchor it, then draw the eye upward. To achieve this effect, our team designed pole covers with 31″ EIFS brick bases, 20.5″ acrylic stucco segments, then 26.5″ architectural caps to finish off the look.
For ease of installation, the pole covers were created in vertical sections. Each section was constructed in two pieces – fronts and backs – so the poles could be “wrapped” with the covers. Built-in mechanical fasteners ensured that all pieces and sections would be securely joined.
Shipped with installation instructions, the pole covers were soon installed by Geffdog Design & Apparel.
“Because the sign was existing and space was tight, we worked with Signs By Benchmark to create a custom design,” said Chris Woolverton of Geffdog Design & Apparel. “The end customers were very happy with the new look rather than just posts. Looking at the sign, they said ‘Man, what a difference!'”
