EPS Foam Boot Sign: A Step Ahead of the RestSign Builder Illustrated magazine featured a Signs By Benchmark project with Baker Sign Company on the cover of its March 2021 issue. The project included a large pole sign with a vinyl-faced cabinet sign, an electronic message center (EMC), LED accent lighting and a twelve-foot-tall replica work boot made from expanded polystyrene (EPS). Choosing an EPS foam core allowed for a seamless presentation of the replica boot as it sits atop the Step Ahead Boots and Clothing sign cabinet. The boot was hand-sculpted and encapsulated in a signature polyurea hardcoat to give it the durability to withstand the elements. Painting was a focus throughout the project in order to achieve the look of a worn or aged work boot. “All the foam signs they have made for us in the past were not only how we envisioned them but also easy to install,” says Ben Baker, owner of Baker Sign Company.
