As part of a Watertown S.D. historic restoration project, Goss Opera House & Gallery ownership asked Elite Signs and Graphix to install two exterior signs. Recognizing the challenge of creating modern signs that would perfectly imitate original 1889 signage, Elite Signs and Graphix contacted Signs By Benchmark. Working from existing building elements, the two companies designed signs that completely captured the elegant, timeless character of the Opera House. The result was two projecting signs, heralding back to the days when shape and function were critical factors in sign craftsmanship.

CNC cut and hand assembled, the signs were molded with the personal attention that is given to every product manufactured by Signs By Benchmark. The 76″ X 86″ signs were built around an internal steel frame. One-quarter inch thick gold anodized aluminum letters from Gemini, Inc. in Cannon Falls, MN. adorn the sign faces. To allow for easy reading from any angle, debossed lettering was engraved on exterior sign edges.
The Goss Opera House & Gallery signage represents a successful collaboration between Signs By Benchmark and Elite Signs and Graphix. “Good communication with our customers is one of our goals,” stated Matt Frey of Signs By Benchmark. “We know that making a sign goes far beyond getting an order.”
