Faux Stone Makes the Monument

Asked to replace an out-dated traditional type sign, SignMART of Mt. Vernon, WA. called upon Signs By Benchmark for a customized product. Working from a rendering and color samples, the Signs By Benchmark team created a unique sign featuring realistic faux stacked stone.

The monument style sign was crafted in one piece. Each stone was hand-sculpted for precise placement. Measuring 13′ wide by 4′ high by 30″ deep, the finished product matched every customer expectation. “Aesthetically, the product turned out as well as it possibly could have,” said CJ Williams of SignMART.

Effective teamwork meant success as both companies worked together on the project. “We created the sign and SignMART installed the lettering,” stated Matt Frey of Signs By Benchmark. “This sharing of technologies means the customer doesn’t have to purchase a complete sign. It’s a cooperative way of adapting to each other’s talents.”

When the sign arrived at SignMART, 1/4″ aluminum flat flush-mounted letters were installed. The printed vinyl logo was then applied to 1/4″ aluminum prior to mounting.

At the site, posts had been installed using a template previously supplied by Signs By Benchmark. “The great part was the ease of having a modular installation on site,” stated CJ Williams of SignMART.

Many factors made this project affordable. Costly traditional stonework was unnecessary. Light weight allowed for affordable delivery and additional ease of installation. “Field time was reduced significantly by not having to build anything on site,” concluded CJ Williams.
